Riana Nel is a Namibian singer-songwriter. After growing up in Windhoek, she moved to South Africa to start her career.Her songs have been described as including elements of "Pop & Country". She had firmly placed her roots in Gospel music on release of the albums; "Oopmond", "The Cure", "Someone With Skin" and won many awards including the "Crescendo award" in 2000.Her latest "Die Moeite Werd" She changed her name to Riana Nel and "Die Moeite Werd" appeals more to the secular market and has reached Platinum status and continues to top South African Music charts.Riana has also starred in the Afrikaans movie, 'N Saak Van Geloof' alongside her co-star Robbie Wessels, the well acclaimed South African singer/songwriter comedian. Nel is a well acclaimed songwriter having written songs for Juanita Du Plessis, Bobby Van Jaarsveld and for Lianie May's most recent album, 'Lank Lewe Die Liefde'Riana Nel has shared a stage with her sister Nianell, Bobby van Jaarsveld, Lianie May and many more. She has performed in South Africa, Namibia, France, Holland, the UK, Nashville, Russia, Mozambique and Australia
 


 

 



Lianie May is a musician from South African, who launched her career in 2007 with her debut album Vergeet My Nie (Forget Me Not) and is best known for her song Soen My Nie Meer Nie (Don't Kiss Me Anymore). Most of her songs is in her native language, Afrikaans, but some is in English and tributes to popular singers like Belinda Carlisle.

Lianie was born on Monday, August 02, 1976 in Vereeniging on a farm just outside Oranjeville. She release her debut album in September 2007, Vergeet My Nie. Lianie is not only a singer but made her debut in November 2011 as a actor in the Afrikaanse film "Platteland"

 


 

 


 
 

Heinz Carl Heinrich Winckler was born in Stellenbosch, South Africa, on 22 March 1978, the now 28 year old Heinz Winckler has come a long way since he studied law at Stellenbosch University. He burst onto South African TV screens winning the first South African M-Net Idols competition (the equivalent of American Idol) in June 2002 & a major recording contract with Sony BMG Records. He twice performed his debut single, "Once In A Lifetime" to a 500-strong live audience & millions of television viewers. Walt Disney employed his talent to perform one of the credit songs, “Chasing Shadows” for the movie “Treasure Planet”. Success of the movie was attributed to Heinz’s performance & was a hit on the S.A market, grossing over R3 million in the first weekend.
 
 








Robbie Wessels is an Afrikaner from the Vrystaat/Freestate in South Africa. His music is intended to be humorous to certain target audiences.
 
 






Jak de Priester is 'n Afrikaanse sanger, skrywer en kunstenaar. Jak se loopbaan het begin in 2003 na hy die ATKV Crescendo Kompetisie gewen het, dit het hom die geleentheid gegee om sy eerste album getiteld 'Sally Williams Nougat' op te neem. 5 Jaar, 4 albums, 1 digbundel en verskeie vertonings later is Jak se loopbaan steeds besig om te groei.




Bok van Blerk, born Louis Pepler March 30, 1978, is a South African musician who sings in Afrikaans. He became famous in 2006 for his rendition of De La Rey.




Gerhard STEYN

Former lead singer of South African Band Windpomp, Gerhard Steyn decided to go solo after their breakup. Gerhard co-wrote almost half the songs on his first album called "Teen Die Berg". Besides music Gerhard also put his hand to acting in some of SABC2's well known series like "Sewendelaan (Kosie die lyfwag)" and Frans Marx's series “The Res (Andre die universiteit se rugby kaptein.)". In the meanwhile Gerhard is entertaining crowds all over the country and breaking young girls hearts with his warm smile and great stage personality.





Nicholis Louw is a pop artist from South Africa. He entered the mainstream with his song Net Die Een Vir My (Maia Hee), which uses the O-Zone song Dragostea Din Tei as chorus.



Elvis Blue

Jan Hoogendyk better known by his stage name Elvis Blue (born in Linden, Gauteng Johannesburg, South Africa on 28 December 1979) is a South African musician and songwriter. He is the winner of the sixth season of South African Idols.

In 2010, Elvis Blue took part in Idols (South Africa) and was announced winner on the finals held on 2 November 2010. For the finals, he sang "The Things My Father Said" originally by Black Stone Cherry. He was awarded R250,000, a record deal, as well as a car and R50,000 worth of music equipment. Elvis received 64% of the votes. The runner up was Lloyd Cele who sang another specially written song for Idols titled "Thanks to You" also ended up receiving R250,000 splitting the grand prize. In an unprecedented gesture of friendship, Elvis and Lloyd had decided before the results of the final show to share the cash prize equally. The winning song became the debut single of the album "Elvis Blue".



Theuns Jordaan is a singer-songwriter from South-Africa born on 10 January 1971.

He recorded his debut album, Vreemde Stad in Stellenbosch and it was first released at the Klein Karoo Nasionale Kunstefees in 2000, and later on by EMI. 'Vreemde Stad' has sold in excess of 150,000 copies to date. Subsequent releases 'Tjailatyd' and 'Seisoen', proved equally popular and established him as a star in Afrikaans music.

Theuns Jordaan's singing is characterized by his deeply emotive bass voice. His music has been said to be "faintly bluesly, radio-friendly", with his lyrics "infused with a mournful love of South Africa." His true interpretation of old Afrikaans songs and some of his original tracks, has made him a big hit with fans.

Afrikaanse musiek is musiek waarin Afrikaans as taal aangewend word. Dit kan 'n verskeidenheid Afrikaanse dialekte en musiekgenres dek.
Afrikaanse musiek weerspieël die diversiteit van die Afrikaner: Sedert die tagtigerjare was daar nie alleen tradisionele Boeremusiek benewens populêre musiek (soos veral vervat in die Huisgenoot Skouspel) nie, maar ook alternatiewe strome. Waar populêre musiek (byvoorbeeld Bles Bridges, Cora Marie, Janita Claassen, Rina Hugo en Carike Keuzenkamp hulself toegespits het op die vermaaklikheidsaspek van musiek, het alternatiewe kunstenaars (byvoorbeeld Piet Botha, Bernoldus Niemand, Koos Kombuis en Johannes Kerkorrel) sosiale kommentaar gelewer op Apartheid en Afrikaneridentiteit. Belangrik in voor-1994 Afrikaanse musiek is ook kunstenaars soos Laurika Rauch, Anton Goosen, Coenie de Villiers, Lucas Maree en Koos du Plessis wat hulself beywer het vir die skryf van kwaliteit musiek en lirieke, alhoewel hulle selde direkte sosiale kommentaar gelewer het.
 

Ná 1994 is die Afrikaner se herontdekking van sy identiteit in sy musiek weerspieël. Die musikante van Voëlvry het meer inwaarts gekeer, groepe soos Battery9 is gestig wat Afrikaans in nuwe genres gebruik het, en Afrikaans het selfs sy eerste heavy metal-liedjie, Voice of Destruction se "J.M.S.P.", gekry (1995). Sedert 2000 het Afrikaanse musiek 'n oplewing ondervind: Groepe soos Fokofpolisiekar, K.O.B.U.S!, Insek, Straatligkinders, Jack Parow, Brasse van die Kaap en Die Antwoord het Afrikaans in 'n groter verskeidenheid musiekgenres aangewend en daardeur aangetoon dat Afrikaans 'n lewendige en nie eendimensionele taal is nie. Vertalings is ook gebruik om die interkulturele gesprek met veral Europa na die isolasie van Apartheid te hervat: Hier kan veral die Afri-Frans, Afri-Spaans en Brel-projekte genoem word.

Die anti-apartheid protesmusiek van Voëlvry is ook opgevolg met nuwe protesmusiek teen die establishment: Koos Kombuis het na 'n paar verspreide protesliedjies sy "Bloedrivier" album in 2008 vrygestel, en groepe soos Glaskas, Klopjag, Fokofpolisiekar en natuurlik Bok van Blerk het begin om protesliedjies te skryf teen wat gesien word as 'n marginalisering van die Afrikaner, asook die heersende misdaadklimaat.

Boeremusiek is 'n unieke vorm van instrumentele volksmusiek wat in Suid-Afrika hoofsaaklik deur Afrikaanssprekendes beoefen word. Dit dateer uit die era toe die persone wat dit beoefen het internasionaal bekend gestaan het as "Die Boere" van Suid-Afrika. Dit is informele musiek wat op 'n kenmerkende manier gespeel word en is hoofsaaklik bedoel as begeleiding vir sosiale danse.

Die mees algemene instrumente wat in Boeremusiek gebruik word is die konsertina, kitaar, trekklavier, banjo en baskitaar. Soms word 'n klavier, kontrabas, traporrel, elektroniese klawerbord, tjello, mondfluitjie of viool ook gebruik. Enkele Boereorkeste gebruik ook 'n saag, klarinet en 'n teekis-bas.

Dansritmes wat tipies is aan Boeremusiek is die settees, polka, wals, mazurka, asook die kwadriel en die vastrap.

Daar is tans twee organisasies wat hulle beywer vir Boeremusiek, naamlik die Tradisionele Boeremusiekklub en die Boeremusiekgilde.

Min Boeremusieknommers is in musieknotasie beskikbaar en die musiek word maar op gehoor gespeel. Elke orkes het ook 'n unieke klank en 'n eie manier van speel.

Tydens die 1930's het Boeremusiek 'n groot oplewing gehad. Orkeste soos die Vyf Vastrappers, Vier Transvalers, die Ses Hartbrekers het Boeremusiek op 78-spoed plaat vrygestel, wat die musiekvorm se gewildheid vinnig laat toeneem het.

Gemoderniseerde Boeremusiek vermeng verskeie musiekvorme deur Rock, Hip-hop en Disko-ritmes en effekte saam met konsertinaklanke en Boeremusiekwysies te kombineer.

Juanita du Plessis (nee Naude) is a famous South African singer, born on 26 April 1972 in Windhoek, Namibia. She became known for her big hit “Ska-Rumba”.Juanita married Herman (Doepie) du Plessis and they have three children: Ruan, Mario and Franja (the last two are twins). Her brother, Peter Naudé is also a singer in his own right.Her singing career began in 1998 with her debut album "Juanita. That year she won the CMA (Country Music Association in Namibia) awards as best singer, best songwriter and the Association's Award for outstanding achievement.

The total sales to date of all her albums sum up to 1.35 million. In 2010 she received a SAMA award in the category Best Afrikaans DVD for her 10th Annual Platinum Hits. The DVD contains Juanita du Plessis’s most successful hits over the first 10 years of her singing career.

Jacobus Frederik Jersich, also known as Ray Dylan is a musician from Odendaalsrus,a small town in South Africa.Dylan is a singer in South Africa and most of his songs is in his native language, Afrikaans, but some is in English. In fact, his debut album was called "New Kid in Town."

Ray was born on August 15, 1978 in a small town in South Africa and grew up in the North West area of the country.Dylan kicked off his career by performing in clubs and bars, he performed with fellow South African stars in South Africa. Dylan sings a lot of ballads, and incorporates electric guitar into most of his hits.
 
 



Karlien van Jaarsveld is die oudste van 3 kinders. Sy is die ouer suster van die reeds bekende Bobby van Jaarsveld. Karlien is nie ‘n nuwe gesig in die musiekbedryf nie.

Sy het 3 jaar gelede begin om saam met Bobby op te tree as sy kitaarspeler en backing vocalist. Sy het ook ‘n duet saam met Bobby gedoen op sy eerste album. Karlien het so 2 jaar gelede besluit om haar eie ding te doen en het toe ‘n rockband gestig, REVOLUSIE. Sy was dus die stigter en hoofsanger van die groep, REVOLUSIE. Rockmusiek was maar altyd in haar bloed en sy het die 2 jaar saam met REVOLUSIE beskou as een van die beste leerskole ooit.
 



Kurt Darren is an established recording artist in South Africa and has been involved in comparing of many launches, beauty pageants and corporate functions since 1990. Kurt shot to stardom after recording his number one hit single "Meisie Meisie". This was soon followed by a string of hits including "Sê Net Ja", "Loslappie" and "Hemel Op Tafelberg" to name only a few. Kurt's live show is energetic and he has also become very famous for his unique dance steps.

Gerrie Pretorius is a South African artist that was born in Mosselbay, South Africa.
 



Pieter Koen grew up in Standerton South-Africa. He was a member of the Drakensberg Boys Choir. He studied at Pretoria Technicon where he was a member of the music group Rondomtalies. After studying Pieter joined some of the local community radio stations as a DJ. Pieter then went on as presenter of the television program "Kunskafee" and then an announcer of the hit Kyk-net series "Kwela".Pieter released his first album in 1997 "Run with me".

Arno Jordaan is in Port Elizabeth gebore en het aan die Hoërskool Brandwag as onderhoofseun gematrikuleer.  Arno se groot belangstelling was rugby,  en het hy die Oostelike provinsie verskeie kere by die Cravenweek verteenwoordig.

In 2003 het Arno en sy sangmaat, Susan mense laat regop sit met hulle vertoning in die Kyknet Zing- realiteits sangkompetisie.  Mense het begin kennis neem van die blondekop hartebreker wat nie net kan sing nie maar ‘n ware "entertainer" is wat harte steel.  Arno en Susan het die land vol getoer en verder mense by Aardklop in 2003 en KKNK in 2004 beïndruk.  Musiek het  die oorhand gekry en Arno het sy rugbyskoene in die kas gepak en sy musiekloopbaan volstoom aangepak.

 



Andriette Norman, also known as "Andriette" is a musician from South Africa, who launched her career in 2007 when she entered the Idols competition and was the runner up to the winner. Andriette has launched her debut cd "Diamant" which has songs written by herself and other popular artist in South Africa.

Andriette is from Brackenfell in Cape Town in South Africa and started singing from the age of 12 years old and has loved music from her primary school days where she was in the school orchestra and choir. At the age of 17 Andriette did recordings for "Bokjol" and "30 Goue Sokkie Treffers"

Steve Hofmeyr the most successful artist South Africa has ever seen. From his humble beginnings as an actor in the hit Television Show "Agter Elke Man" on to "Egoli" and finally his own Hit TV show "Dis Hoe Dit Is Met Steve" on Kyk Net. Steve also appeared in various movies like: "Kampus- Die Fliek", "Agter Elke Man", "No Hero", "Decade- Steve Hofmeyr" and "A Case of Murder". Steve has proven himself both as an actor and as a singer, with his CD's and DVD's all selling platinum over and over again





Jordaan was born on 10 January 1971 in Venterstad in the Eastern Cape. While studying industrial psychology at the University of Stellenbosch, he had his first performance on 21 October 1992 at a local bar called The Terrace. He started composing his own lyrics, resulting in five songs of his debut album, Vreemde Stad.After he completed his studies, Jordaan spent a year as an entrepreneur. In October 1998, he moved from the Cape to Pretoria and, after gaining popularity in the city, recorded his debut album, Vreemde Stad, in Stellenbosch. This album was released in 2000 at the Klein Karoo Nasionale Kunstefees in Oudtshoorn. EMI released Vreemde Stad shortly afterwards, and the album surpassed triple platinum status (150 000 copies) in July 2003.

He launched his second album, Tjailatyd at the Aardklop music festival in 2002, which also sold more than 150 000 records. The South African guitar player, Anton L'Amour, performed with Theuns and was responsible for all the guitar tracks in Vreemde Stad and Tjailatyd.

Dozi's name is Henk Opperman. He was given the nickname "Dozi" while studying at Technicon. In the evenings he would perform at restaurants and functions,and then get back home very late at night.As a result, he started sleeping in the afternoons. His fellow students started calling him Dozi as a result of the love for sleeping. The name stuck, and soon, everyone knew him as Dozi.

Dozi was born on the 23rd of March in Hluhluwe in Kwazulu/Natal. As a young boy, he moved to the Standerton area with his parents, where he grew up on a farm..





Bobby van Jaarsveld was born 6 March 1987 in Pretoria, South Africa. He is the middle child of 3 children. He started singing at the age of 14. His official website is on www.bobbyvanjaarsveld.co.za.




Elizma Theron is an Afrikaans singer and actress. She was born in Bethlehem in the Free State , but her schooling in Kuruman , Northern Cape and complete. She also played in KykNET soap Villa Rosa .
